Opening Day is just around the corner, so that means the release of Topps Opening Day set. This is a set that manages not to rely on hits, in a hobby that seems to more and more focus on hits. That’s not to say there are not any in Opening Day, but they are much rarer, and result in a lot more affordable boxes.
It follows the normal pattern with the design mirroring the flagship
release, with an Opening Day logo on the front. It’s also a condensed release featuring only 200 cards. You can find regular inserts such as Mascots cards, but also new ones including Diamond Relics, which feature a small amount of dirt from a major league stadium.
A box advertises 36 packs of 7 cards each, with no guaranteed hits.
This box contained:
202 Base (100% of 200 card set)
5 Base Blue Parallel
8 Before Opening Day
10 Mascots
7 Opening Day Ballparks
2 Opening Day Stars
11 Team Traditions & Celebrations
1 Diamond Relics Francisco Lindor
